Mr. Smith is a civil trial lawyer. He has tried numerous cases to verdict, primarily against insurance companies. He has dedicated his practice largely to representing citizens of Florida with homeowners insurance claims and those who have been killed or injured due to the negligence of others. Mr. Smith has represented homeowners with damages from a number of covered causes, to include but not limited to wind, flood, fire, vandalism, termites and sinkhole. He has also represented victims of negligence in wrongful death claims, medical malpractice and negligence in motor vehicle and motorcycle accidents, slips, falls and work-related accidents.
As Managing Partner, Mr. Smith’s goal for the firm of Smith, Kling Thompson, P.A. is to aggressively protect Floridians’ rights, level the playing field against large, financially motivated companies, and ensure the very highest level of service to all clients.
Mr. Smith graduated, with honors, from Stetson University College of Law, where he was Articles & Symposia Editor of the Stetson Law Review. He was selected as a member of Order of the Coif and Phi Delta Phi, legal honors fraternity. Before that, Mr. Smith graduated, with honors, from University of North Carolina at Wilmington, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management.
Mr. Smith is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Florida and all state and federal courts within the State of Florida.

Mr. Kling graduated with Honors from the Stetson University College of Law in 2009, where he was an assistant editor of the Stetson Law Review and a member of the honors symposium. Mr. Kling has been practicing in the area of insurance litigation since 2010. He has litigated hundreds of First Party insurance cases, and has tried numerous insurance cases to verdict.

Thomas W. Thompson

As founder and President of the Thompson Trial Group, P.A., Mr. Thompson has dedicated his practice to the representation and advocacy of insurance policyholders in disputes with insurance companies. Currently Mr. Thompson serves as Of Counsel to the law firm Smith, Kling & Thompson. Mr. Thompson is undoubtedly passionate about seeking justice for his clients and protecting all their rights under the applicable insurance policies.
Prior to his insurance practice, Mr. Thompson served as a Judge Advocate General for the United States Army. During his time in the JAG Corps, Mr. Thompson gained valuable trial and litigation experience. He continued his legal career working for insurance defense firms. Although Mr. Thompson spent years learning the methods of the best defense lawyers, he decided to use his talents to help the people on the other side of the courtroom: the homeowners.

Mr. Rudin is an associate attorney with the law firm practicing exclusively in the area of civil litigation. He graduated with a Juris Doctor from Stetson University College of Law in 2009, and graduated from Indiana University in 2006, earning his bachelor’s degree in Sports Management & Management and a certificate in Business. While in school, Mr. Rudin worked for the National Basketball Association, the National Association of Professional Baseball Leagues, Thomson Reuters and The Bangos Law Firm.
Mr. Rudin is a member of the State Bar of Florida and is also licensed to practice before the U.S. District Court, Middle District of Florida. He is a member of the Real Property, Probate and Trust Section and Young Lawyers Division of the Florida Bar, and a member of the Hillsborough County Bar Association. Prior to joining the firm in 2012, Mr. Rudin was an associate with the Tampa law firm of Ronald R. Wolfe & Associates.
